Doctor by the Universidad de Málaga with the thesis Técnicas de resolución de la ambigüedad de las medidas de fase en sistemas de navegación por satélite 2005. Supervised by Dr. Teresa María Martin Guerrero, Dr. José Tomás Entrambasaguas Muñoz.

Unai Fernández-Plazaola received the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in telecommunication engineering from the University of Málaga. Since 1997, he has been with the Department of Ingeniería de Comunicaciones, where he is currently Associate Professor. His teaching activities include communications and image and video processing. His doctoral thesis was on precise positioning in global navigation satellite systems. His current research interests include performance analysis, adaptive modulation and signal processing in digital communication systems, in radio wireless and underwater communications.
