Doctor by the Universidad de Málaga with the thesis Descubriendo estructuras en los datos mediante aprendizaje competitivo y reproductivo 2002. Supervised by Dr. José Muñoz Pérez.

Jose Antonio Gomez-Ruiz received the B.Eng., M.Eng., and Ph.D. degrees in computer engineering from the University of Malaga (UMA), Spain, in 1995, 1997, and 2002, respectively. His teaching activity is carried out at the School of Industrial Engineering, where he held the position of the Head of Studies, from 2010 to 2017. He is currently an Associate Professor with the Department of Languages and Computer Science, UMA. He is also the Director of the master’s degree in mechatronics engineering at the University of Malaga. He is also a Researcher at the UMA Robotics and Mechatronics Group. He received two years with a Pre-Doctoral Fellowship. More than 60 scientific publications, including more than 25 in indexed journals, collect his contributions in the field of artificial neural networks, decision support systems, and mobile robotics, actively participating in various research projects with public and private funding.
