Doctor by the Universidad de Málaga with the thesis Efectividad de un nuevo modelo de atención domiciliaria en Andalucía para poblaciones vulnerables en atención primaria. Estudio quasi-experimental, controlado, multicéntrico 2006. Supervised by Dr. María Teresa Labajos Manzanares.

I have been a professor at the Department since 2010, and I was Director of the Department between 2010-2018. I am also currently Vice-Dean of Research and Postgraduate Studies and Coordinator of the Doctoral Program in Health Sciences. Previously, I was a professor at the Andalusian School of Public Health, Coordinator of the Effectiveness and Research Unit of the Málaga Health District and a clinical nurse at the Virgen de la Victoria University Hospital, where I was also Head of the Critical Care Block and Deputy Director. I am a visiting professor at the Universities of Almería, Huelva, Baleares, Barcelona, Autonomous University of Madrid, Cádiz, Coimbra and Visiting Professor at the University of Hertfordshire (UK).
