Rafael Grande has a PhD in Social Sciences from the University of Salamanca (2014), a Master's Degree in Latin American Studies (University of Salamanca, 2011) and a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology (University of Salamanca, 2009). He has been a University Teacher Training (FPU) fellow of the Ministry of Education (2010-2014). He is currently a University Associate Professor at the University of Malaga. He is a member of the research groups Demography and Social Research in Health (PAIDI SEJ-654 - Andalusia) and Labour Market, Migration, Health (UIC -Castilla y León). He has undertaken research stays in the Population Programme at the University of the Republic (Uruguay), at the Centre d'Estudis Demogràfics (Barcelona, Spain), at the Office of Population Research at Princeton University (New Jersey, USA) and at the Autonomous University of Chiapas (Mexico). His lines of research focus on the integration of the international migrant population and their descendants, demographic dynamics (reproductive patterns and ageing processes), and the labour market. During his academic career he has participated in more than a dozen research projects at the regional, national and European level.
