María Jesús Carrasco-Santos, PhD, is affiliated with the Department of Business Organization and Marketing at the University of Málaga and is a researcher at the Andalusian Institute for Research and Innovation in Tourism (IATUR). Her academic and research activity focuses on tourism innovation, immersive technologies, digital wellbeing, marketing, and experiential environments, with particular interest in the application of Virtual Reality and emerging technologies within tourism and wellbeing-oriented contexts. She has participated in interdisciplinary research projects involving tourism, communication, education, and digital innovation, collaborating with researchers from both tourism and healthcare-related fields. Her work explores the emotional, experiential, and behavioural dimensions of immersive technologies and their applications beyond traditional tourism-consumption environments. She has published in international journals related to tourism, communication, and innovation, including Tourism Management, Current Issues in Tourism, and Tourism & Management Studies. Her research activity also includes participation in scientific conferences, academic dissemination activities, and collaborative initiatives linked to tourism innovation and digital transformation.
