Javier Gonzalez-Jimenez is a Full Professor in the area of Systems Engineering and Automation at the University of Málaga. He is also the head of the Machine Perception and Intelligent Robotics group (MAPIR-UMA). He holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Seville and a Ph.D. in Control Systems and Robotics from the University of Málaga. During his doctoral studies, he carried out a research stay at the Robotics Institute of Carnegie Mellon University (USA), where he worked on mobile robotics. He has been leading research projects for over 25 years, including more than 10 national, 4 European, and over 15 industry-funded projects in mobile robotics and perception. His main research interests include autonomous navigation of mobile robots, computer vision, and robotic olfaction. In these fields, he has published more than 300 scientific papers, including three books and over 110 journal articles indexed in the SCI-JCR.
